Question

A change in a vector may occur due to rotation of frame of reference. Explain.

Open in App
Solution

A vector is categorized by both magnitude and direction If we change the direction of the vector, the vector changes.

Now, if we rotate the frame of reference, the angle that the vector makes with the coordinate axes changes. Hence, the vector changes.

θ1 is the new angle with x-axis.
θ is the old angle with x-axis.
θ>θ1
Here, the angle of the vector changes, hence the vector changes.
