Question

A charge is fixed at one end of an insulating rod of length ‘L’ which rotates with uniform speed about an axis perpendicular to its length and passing through its other end as shown in the figure. This region of space contains a uniform electrostatic field E directed along positive X-axis. The work done by the field when the particle completes two full rotations is?

Solution

The correct option is A Zero
As we have already established that work done by a conservative force in a closed loop is always zero. Well this is one of the very basic and important criterions to check if the force is conservative in nature or not.
So completing 1,2,n complete revolutions in a uniform electric field gives rise to zero work done by the electrostatic field/force.
