A chef while cooking cuts his hand with a sharp-edged knife, but to his surprise, his hand did not cut with a spoon even on the application of a greater force. Why did it cut from a knife for a smaller force?
For the same force, the pressure developed in the knife is much larger due to its sharp edge than the spoon.
Since the edge of the knife is very sharp, therefore the pressure developed is much larger for the same force in the case of the knife than a spoon.
