Draw the diagram according to the directions given in the question,
$AB=90$ m, $BC=20$ m, $CD=30$ m.
$DL=20$ m, $DE=100$ m and $EL=80$ m,
$AL=60$ m
$\therefore AE=\sqrt{A{L}^2+l{E}^2}=\sqrt{{60}^2+{80}^2}$
$=\sqrt{10000}=100$
So, he met at $100$ m from his starting point.
