A chord of a circle of radius 12cm subtends an angle of 120 at the centre. Find the area of the corresponding segment of the circle.(Use π=3.14 and 3=1.732).

Area of segment ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯AB= Area of sector AOB area of Δ′′AOB
Area of sector AOB=θ3600×π×(12)2
=13×3.14×12×12
=48×3.14=150.72
OD=12cos600, AD=12sin600AB=2×12sin600
area of Δ′′AOB=12×12sin600×2×cos600×12
=6×12×sin1200
=72×32=36×3=62.35
area of segment =150.7262.35=88.4 cm2
