A chord of a circle radius 14 cm makes a right angle at the centre . Find the area of the minor and the major segment of the circle.

Given:Radius of circle=$14cm$
and $\angle AOB={90}^o$
$\therefore$ Area of minor sector =$\frac{\theta }{360}\times \pi r^2$
=$\frac{90}{360}\times \frac{22}{7}\times 14\times 14$
=$\frac{1}{4}\times 22\times 2\times 14$
=$154c{m}^2$
and Area of major sector=Area of circle - Area of minor sector
=$\pi r^2-154$
=$\frac{22}{7}\times 14\times 14-154$
=$22\times 2\times 14-154$
=$462c{m}^2$
