Given that

The circle is divided into 8 equal parts

Area of the circle = (8)$\times$$\frac{10}{4}$

= 20 $m^2$

Area of unshaded part = Total area - shaded area

= 20 - $\frac{10}{4}$ $m^2$
= $\frac{80-10}{4}{m}^2$
= $\frac{70}{4}$ = 17.5 $m^2$
Hence, area of the unshaded portion is 17.5 $m^2$
