Solution

The correct option is D

is towards west at both A and B

Right-hand thumb rule

According to the right-hand thumb rule, when a current-carrying conductor is held in the right hand in such a way that the thumb is pointing in the same direction as that of the current then the direction of the curled fingers of the hand represents the direction of the induced magnetic field.

To find the direction of the magnetic field at A and B,

  1. We will apply the right-hand thumb rule.
  2. At points A and B if we apply the right-hand rule, the direction of the magnetic field comes out to be in the west direction.

Hence, option D is correct.
