For laminar flow in a circular pipe, the local velocity may be given as

u=Umax[1r2R2]...(i)

For laminar flow in a circular pipe, the average velocity may be given as

V=Umax2...(ii)

Equating (i) and (ii), we get

Umax2=Umax[1r2R2]

r2R2=112
