Position of COM of semicircular ring of density λ C1=(x1,y1)=(0,2Rπ)
Position of COM of semicircular ring of density 2λ C2=(x2,y2)=(0,−2Rπ)
To find COM of system xcm=m1x1+m2x2m1+m2=m(0)+2m(0)3m=0 ycm=m1y1+m2y2m1+m2=m(2Rπ)+2m(−2Rπ)3m=−2R3π ⇒(xcm,ycm)=(0,−2R3π)m
