A xcm=0
C ycm<0
Given, two semi circular wires of same radius and mass per unit lenths λ and 2λ
Masses of rings are m and 2m respectively.
Position of COM of semicircular ring of density λ
C1=(x1,y1)=(0,2Rπ)
Position of COM of semicircular ring of density 2λ
C2=(x2,y2)=(0,2Rπ)


To find COM of system
xcm=m1x1+m2x2m1+m2=m(0)+2m(0)3m=0
ycm=m1y1+m2y2m1+m2=m(2Rπ)+2m(2Rπ)3m=2R3π
(xcm,ycm)=(0,2R3π) m
From this we can say that , xcm=0 and ycm<0
Thus, options (a) and (c) are correct answers.
