Solution

Step 1: Converting given fraction into equivalent fractions.

Given: A city received 512 cm rainfall on Saturday and 163 cm on Sunday.

So, in two days it receive 512+163 cm rainfall.

To convert them into equivalent fractions, take LCM of the denominators.

LCM (least common multiple) of 12 and 3 is 12.

5×112×1=512 and 16×43×4=6412

Step 2: Finding how much rainfall city received in two days.

We get, 512+163=512+6412

512+6412=5+6412=6912

Hence, city received 6912 cm rainfall rainfall in two days
