Let the speed of sound in air be v .
Beat frequency when both pipes have same length b=ν1ν1=2
Fundamental frequency in an open pipe ν1=v2L

Fundamental frequency in a closed pipe ν1=v4L
v2L v4L=2

vL=8 ..........(1)

Now the length of the open pipe is halved and that of closed pipe is doubled.
New beat frequency b=v2(L/2)v4(2L)=78vL

b=78×8=7
