Question

A coil is rotated with constant angular speed in a uniform magnetic field about an axis that is perpendicular to the field.

STATEMENT-1: The EMF induced in the coil is maximum at the instant the magnetic flux through the coil is zero.

STATEMENT-2: The angle between the normal to the coil and magnetic field induction is 90.

A
Both STATEMENT-1 and STATEMENT-2 are TRUE and STATEMENT-2 is the correct explanation of STATEMENT-1

Solution

The correct option is A Both STATEMENT-1 and STATEMENT-2 are TRUE and STATEMENT-2 is the correct explanation of STATEMENT-1
Let the angle between the normal to the coil and magnetic field induction be θ.

We know that, ϕ=BAcosθ

Differentiating on both sides wrt (t) gives,

dϕdt=BAsin.dθdt

From Lenz's law, Ein=BAωsinθ [dθdt=ω]

Ein is maximum when, θ=90

Flux ϕ=0 at this instant.
