There are $4$ possible cases:-

(i) Team $1$ wins toss and play first

(ii) Team $1$ wins toss and play second

(iii) Team $2$ wins toss and play first

(iv) Team $2$ wins toss and play second.

Out of the $4,2$ cases favour team $1$ play first, hence probability $=\frac{2}{4}=\frac{1}{2}=k$

$\Rightarrow 2k=1$.
