A column ISHB 350 @ 661.2 N/m carries an axial compressive factored load of 1700 kN. The load for design of connection of column flanges with gusset plate will be _______kN. [Assume end of the column is machine smoothened]

For machine smoothened column ends, 50% of the load will pass directly and the connections will be designed for the remaining 50% of the load.

$\therefore$ Load for design of connection
$=\frac{1}{2}\times \frac{1700}{2}=425kN$
