Tuberculosis is a communicable disease that can be prevented by the BCG vaccine.

Tuberculosis:

  • This disease is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis.


Symptoms:

  1. Cough,
  2. Fever
  3. Sweating at night,
  4. Chest pain,
  5. Blood in the sputum,
  6. Loss of weight,
  7. Breathlessness when exerting oneself.

Prevention and control:

  1. The patient must be isolated in a separate room.
  2. Utensils, towels, bedsheets, and other items used by the patient should not be shared with others.
  3. Vaccination with BCG (Bacillus Calmette Guerin) is an effective way to protect against this disease.
  4. Treatment with antitubercular medications is also possible.
