A company packages its milk powder in the cylindrical container whose base has a diameter of 14cm and height 20cm. Company places a label around the surface of the container (as shown in the figure). If the label is placed 2cm from top and bottom, what is the surface area of the label.
Diameter of the cylindrical container (d)=14 cm
⇒(r)=14 cm2=7 cm
Height of cylindrical container (h)=20 cm
Since, the label is placed 2cm from top and bottom.
⇒ height of the cylinder covered by lable (h1)=20 cm−(2 cm+2 cm)
⇒h1=16 cm
Surface area of the Lable =2×π×r×h1
=2×227×7 cm×16 cm
=2×22×16 cm2
=704 cm2
Therefore, the area of the Lable cover is 704 cm2.
Hence, Option A is correct.
