Question

A company was manufacturing 'LED bulbs' which were in great demand. It was found that the target of producing 300 bulbs a day was not met by the employees. On analysis, it was found that the workers of the company were not able to achieve the set targets and alternative arrangements were needed.
To meet the increased demand, the company assessed that approximately 88 additional workers were required out of which 8 would work as heads of different departments and 10 would work as subordinates were also enlisted. It was also decided that necessary relaxation should be given to encourage women, persons from backward and rural areas and persons with special abilities to assume responsible positions in the organisation. All efforts were made to match the ability of the applicants with the nature of work.

ii) Steps in organizing function-
a) identifying and dividing work
The organizing function begins with the division of total work into smaller units. Each unit of total work is called a job.
b) Assignment of Duties:
After dividing the organization into specialized departments each individual working in different departments is assigned a duty matching to his skill and qualifications. The work is assigned according to the ability of individuals. Employees are assigned duties by giving them a document called job description. This document clearly defines the contents and responsibilities related to the job.
steps in staffing function
a) Recruitment:
It refers to the process of inducing the people to apply for the job in the organization. After assessing the number and type of employee required, the manager tries that more and more people should apply for the job so that the organization can get more choice and select better candidates.
b) Estimating manpower requirement:
Staffing process begins with the estimation of manpower requirement which means finding out number and type of employees needed by the organization in near future. Manpower requirement is not only to find out the number of people needed but also the type of people
