The compound (A) is hydrated ferric sulphate (green vitriol) FeSO47H2O
On heating, it loses water of crystallisation to form anhydrous (white) ferric sulphate.

On further heating, it gives sulphur dioxide (compound C), sulphur trioxide (compound D) and ferric oxide (compound E).
