A compound contains atom A and B crystallizes in cubic structure. The atoms A are present at the corners while atoms B are present at the face centres. What is the formula of the compound?

Atoms at the corner share themselves with 8 other unit cells. Since there are 8 corners in a a unit cell,
No of atoms of A in one unit cell = ⅛ × 8 = 1
​Atoms at the faces share themselves with 2 other unit cells. Since there are 6 faces in a unit cell,
No of atoms of B in one unit cell = ½ × 6 = 3
Therefore, the formula of compound is AB3.
