Molar mass of Satom=32g/mol
Atomic mass of Oatom=16g/mol
In SO2, the total mass of sulphur present = 32 g.
The total mass of Oatoms present=2×16=32g.
Hence, the ratio of total mass of S and O-atoms present in SO2=32:32.
Total weight of SO2=64
Hence , the composition of SO2 by mass is 50% S and 50% O.
