P is a point close to the surface of the spherical shell.

Step 2: Finding the nature of the electric field at point P;

  1. The electric field at a point close to a spherical shell is always perpendicular to the surface of the shell.
  2. Thus, the net field at point P will be perpendicular to the surface of the spherical shell which will be directed along OB as the radial direction is the perpendicular direction for a sphere.
