A conducting wire bent in the shape of a parabola y2=2x carries a current of 2 A as shown. This wire is placed in a uniform magnetic field B=4^k. The magnitude of force on the wire is (Give integer value)

The magnitude of force will be

Fm=BIlAB

Where, lAB is effective length between the points A and B.

Now, x-coordinate of both A and B will be equal.

Given equation of parabola is
y2=2x

At, x=2 ,

y2=2×2=4 y=±2

A=(2, 2) and B=(+2, 2)

lAB=4 m

Fm=4×2×4=32 N

Accepted answer: 32
