Question

A conductor lies along the z-axis at1.5z1.5 m and carries a fixed current of 10.0 A in ^k direction (see figure). For a field B=3.0×104e0.2x^j T, find the power required to move the conductor at a constant speed to x=2.0 m, y=0 m in 5×103 s. Assume parallel motion along the x-axis. (Assume e0.4=1.5)

Solution

The correct option is D 4.5 W
According to question, B=3.0×104e0.2x^j T, l=3 m, I=10.0 A
We know that magnetic force, F=I(l×B)
F=I(l^k×B^j)=FIB^i
So, the work done by force due to magnetic field,
W=20F.dx=20BIldx
W=2010×3×3×104e0.2xdx
=4.5×102(e0.41) J
Therefore, power is
P=WT=4.5×102×0.55×103=4.5 W
