Question

A cone, hemisphere and a cylinder stand on the same base and have equal height. Find the ratio of their volumes.

Open in App
Solution

Curved surface area of cone =13πr2h

Volume of hemisphere =23πr3

Volume of cylinder =πr2h

Given that cone, hemisphere and cylinder have equal base and same height

That is r=h

Volume of cone : Volume of hemisphere : Volume of cylinder

=13πr2h:23πr3:πr2h

=13h3:23h3:h3 since r=h

=13:23:1

=1:2:3
