Solution

When a solid is melted and moulded to form another solid shape, the volume of the solid formed will be equal to the volume of the solid melted.

Given: Radius of cone, r = 7 cm
Height of the cone, h = 28 cm

Volume of the cone
= Number of shapes× Volume of the solid shape formed

1 Sphere:

Let the radius of sphere be R.
Volume of the cone = Number of spheres × Volume of sphere
13πr2h=1×43πR3
R3=r2h4
R3=7×7×284
R=7 cm
Radius of the sphere thus formed will be 7 cm.

16 Hemispheres:

Let the radius of hemisphere be R.
Volume of the cone = Number of hemispheres × Volume of hemisphere
13πr2h=16×23πR3
R3=r2h2×16

R3=7×7×282×16

R=72 cm=3.5 cm
Radius of each hemisphere thus formed will be 3.5 cm.

27 Spheres:

Let the radius of sphere be R.
Volume of the cone = Number of spheres × Volume of sphere
13πr2h=27×43πR3
R3=r2h4×27

R3=7×7×284×27

R=73 cm=213 cm
Radius of each sphere thus formed will be 213 cm.
