Question

A conical pit of top diameter 3.5 m is 12 m deep. What is its capacity in kilolitres?
[Assume π=227]

Open in App
Solution

Radius (r) of the pit =(3.52) m=1.75 m

Height of (h) of the pit = depth of the pit = 12 m

Volume of the pit
=13πr2h
=[13×227×(1.75)2×12] m3=38.5 m3

Thus, the capacity of the pit = 38.5 kilolitres.
[1 m3 = 1000 litres = 1 kilolitre]
