Question

A container has 3.2g of a certain gas at NTP. What would be the mass of the same gas contained in the same vessel at 200oC and 16 atm pressure?

Solution

At NTP, V=22.4L,P=1atm,R=0.0821,T=273K
PV=nRT
n=3.2Molar mass(M)
PV=(3.2M)0.0821×273
or, M=3.2×0.0821×2731×22.4=3.2019
Now, M=Molar weight= 3.2V×22.4=3.2019
V=22.38
Now, at 16atm pressure & 200oC, T=200+273=473K
PV=nRT
PV=WMRT
16×22.38=W3.2019×0.0821×473
W=16×22.38×3.20190.0821×473=29.524g
