(a) We know that,
Rs 1 = 100 paise
1540 paise = Rs $\frac{1540}{100}$ = Rs 15.40

(b) Given,
Amount in Shekar's wallet = Rs 20 and 9 paise
We know that, Rs 1 = 100 paise
9 paise = Rs $\frac{9}{100}$ = Rs 0.09
$\therefore$ Rs 20 + 9 paise = Rs (20 + 0.09)
= Rs. 20.09.
