Solution

The correct option is D (n1n)f

Given:

focal length =f
magnification, m=hih0=n

Applying lens formula for given condition,

1v1u=1f

uv1=uf

uv=u+ff

vu=fu+f .........(1)

Now applying formula of magnification

m=vu=n

ff+u=n [from eq.(1)]

f=nf+nu

f(1n)=nuu=(1nn)f

So, object distance (considering sign convention) for the given lens will be

u=(n1n)f

Hence, option (c) is correct.
