Question

A copper coin is kept immersed in a solution of silver nitrate for some time. What will happen to the coin and the colour of the solution?

(i) A layer of silver metal will be deposited on the copper coin. Silver is below copper in activity series. So, copper being more reactive than silver will displace silver from silver nitrate solution)
(ii) The colour of solution will turn blue because of the formation of copper nitrate solution.
