A copper rod of length l is suspended from ceiling by one of its ends. Find the elongation $Δ l$ of the rod due to its own weight.

Elongation in the rod is given by $\frac{F L}{A Y}$
Here, Centre of mass of the rod is at centre,so

$L = l / 2, F = m g$
Therefore, Elongation $(Δ l) = \frac{m g l}{2 A Y}$
