Solution

Step-1 Scale taken for the time axis:

From the graph we observe that 4units=1hour.

Step-2 :Time taken by the person

The person starts his journey at 8a.m. and ends his journey at 11:30a.m., So the total time taken by the courier person is the difference in the time i.e. 3hour30minutes.

Step-3 Distance of merchant from the town:

From the graph we observe that the merchant is 22km away from the town.

Step-4 Stop in way:

Yes, this has been indicated by the horizontal part of the graph. He stayed from 10a.m.to10.30a.m.

Step-5 Faster speed:

As the graph is distance-time graph, so we can say that where the slope is maximum at that place the person has the maximum speed. It is clearly seen from the graph that between 8a.m.to9a.m. the person rides the fastest.

Hence,

Scale taken for the time axis is hour

Time taken by the person is 3hour30minutes

Distance of merchant from the town is 22km

Stop in way is 10a.m.to10.30a.m.

Faster speed 8a.m.to9a.m.
