A cow gives y litres of milk per week. Find the volume of milk she gives in a month of 31 days.

31 = 28 + 3
= 7 $\times$ 4 + 3
= 4 weeks and 3 days

Volume of milk given per week = y L
Volume of milk given per day = $\frac{y}{7}$ L
Volume of milk given in 31 days = 31 $\times$ $\frac{y}{7}$ L = $\frac{31 y}{7}$
