Given,Length of each side, L=4 cmLateral displacement, x=0.012 cmη=2×1011 dyne/cm2(a) Shearing strain θ=xL=0.0124=0.003(b) Using relation,η=Fθaor Shearing stress=Fa=ηθ=2×1011×3×10-3=6×108 dyne/cm2(c) Shearing force, F=Shearing stress×area =6×108×L2=6×108×42=9.6×109 dyne
