let the fraction in water be b
and a+b=1 ................1
Mathematically depicting the situation,
upward force=downward force
=0.8a kg+b kg=0.9kg
0.8a+b=0.9
=8a+10b+9..................2
From 1 and 2,
a=b=12
So,
Ratio of volume immersed in kerosene and water=a:b
=12:12
=1:1
