A cube of ice whose side is 4.0 cm is allowed to melt. The volume of water found to be 58.24 ${c m}^{3}$ . Find the density of ice.

mass 1 cm cubic of water $= 1 g$

therefore mass of $58.24 g$ of water $= 58.24 \times 1$

$= 58.24$

volume of ice cube $= 4^{3}$

$= 12 c m$ cubed

therefore density of ice $= \frac{m a s s}{v o l u m e}$

$= \frac{58.24}{12}$

$= 0.91 g c m - 3$
