Question

A cuboid has total surface area of 50 m2 and lateral surface area is 30 m2. Find the area of its base.

Open in App
Solution

Total surface area of cuboid = 50 m2

Lateral surface area of cuboid = 30 m2

Total Surface area = 2 (surface area of base) + (surface area of 4 walls)

T.S.A = 2( L×B+B×H+×L)T.S.A = 2(L×B) + 2(B×H+H×L)T.S.A. = 2(Surface area of base) + 2H(L+B)

50 = 2 (surface area of base) + (lateral surface area)

50 = 2 (surface area of base) + 30

50 – 30 = 2 (surface area of base)

20 = 2 (surface area of base)

Surface area of base = 20/2

= 10 m2

∴ Area of base is 10m2
