Question

A current carrying conductor is placed perpendicular to the magnetic field of horse shoe magnet the conductor is displaced upwards what will happen to the displacement of the conductor if (i) current in the conductor is increased (ii) a horse shoe magnet is replaced by another stronger horse shoe magnet and (iii) the length of the conductor is increased

Solution

(i) When the current in the rod AB is increased, force exerted on the conductor increases hence, the displacement of the rod increases.

(ii) When a stronger horse shoe magnet is used, the strength of the magnetic field increases. This increases the force exerted on the conductor and the displacement of thr ord increases.

iii) When the length of the rod AB is increased, force exerted on the current carrying conductor also increases.
