Solution

The correct option is C I>IV>II>III
Potential energy of a current loop in a uniform magnetic field is given by,

U=m.B=mBcosθ

For orientation I, θ1=180

So, UI=mB

For orientation II, θ2=90

So, UII=0

For orientation III, 0<θ3<90

So, mB<UIII<0

For orientation IV, 90<θ4<180

So, 0<UIV<mB

Therefore, I>IV>II>III

Hence, option (C) is the correct answer.
Why this question?

To understand the concept of potential energy of a current carrying coil in a magnetic field.
