Question

A current of 0.5 A is drawn by a filament of an electric bulb for 10 minutes. Find the amount of electric charge that flows through the circuit. [2 Mark]

Open in App
Solution

Solution:

Current = I = 0.5A

Time = t = 10 minutes
= 10 × 60 seconds
= 600 seconds [0.5 Marks]

Let total charge flown = Q

We know that: I = Q/t [0.5 Marks]
or, Q = I × t
or, Q = 0.5 × 600 C
or, Q = 300 Coulombs [1 Mark]

Therefore, the amount of electric charge that flows through the circuit is 300 Coulombs.
