Question

A current of 0.5Ais drawn by a filament of an electric bulb for 10 minutes. Find the amount of electric charge that flows through the circuit.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data:-

Electric current drawn by the filament, i=0.5A

Time in which electric current is drawn by the filament, T=10minutes

Amount of electric charge flowing through the circuit, Q=?

Step 2: Formula used:-

i=QT ………………………..(a)

Step 3: Calculation of the electric charge flowing through the circuit:-

Converting the given time from minutes to seconds, we get

T=10×60ST=600s

Substituting the given value of electric current and the value of time in seconds obtained above in equation (a), we get

0.5A=Q600s

Q=0.5×600

Q=300C

Hence, the amount of electric charge flowing through the circuit is equal to 300C
