Question

A cycle - wheel is rotating with uniform angular velocity (ω) . What is the nature of the graph between tangential velocity of different points on a spoke and their distance from the axis ?

Open in App
Solution

v (Tangential Velocity ) = w (angular velocity) × r (linear distance of P from the wheel-centre/axis per se).

This is a linear equation involving variable ‘v’ ( ordinate) and 'r' (the corresponding abscissa) akin to y = mx

So, the graph shall be a 'straight line' starting from Origin (0,0).
