Question

A cyclist goes around a circular track once every 2 minutes. If the radius of the circular track is 110 m, calculate the speed of cyclists.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1, Given data

Radius of the track,r = 110 m

Time t = 2 min = 120 second

Step 2, Finding the speed

We know,

Circumference or distance of circle = 2πr

Putting all the values

Circumference of the circle = 2×227×110

After solving

Circumference of the circle = 691.43 m = Distance traveled by the cyclist

Now We know

Speed=DistanceTime

Or, Speed = 691.43120 =5.76 m/s

Hence the speed of the cyclist = 5.76 m/s
