Open in App
Solution

Given,

4 km from A to B

3 km at right angles to AB

The figure of the given situation

Displacement is the straight line distance between the initial and final position

So,

From the Pythagoras theorem

PR=PQ2+QR2

Putting all the values

PR=42+32

After solving

PR = 5 km

Hence the displacement is 5 km
