Question

A cylinder is filled with a liquid of density 'd' up to a height 'h'. If the beaker is at rest, then determine the mean pressure on the wall is?

Solution

pressure at the top=0 pa
pressure at the bottom=dgh
Since, in the static fluid , the pressure at the same horizontal level remains the same. And also the pressure is varying linearly with the height.
So, average pressure=(0+dgh)/2=dgh/2
