Solution

The molar mass of butane is 58.12 g/mol.
14 kg of butane corresponds to 14000g58.12g/mol=240.88mol
The maximum energy that can be obtained if there is no wastage is =2658kJ/mol×240.88mol=640259kJ=640.259MJ
The energy consumed by the family =20MJ/day×26day=520MJ
The percentage of gas wasted due to insufficient combustion is =640.259520640.259×100=18.78 %
