Solution

Diameter of cylindrical tank = 1.4 m

Radius (r) = 1.42 = 0.7 m

and height (h) = 2.1 m

Volume of water in the tank = πr2 h

=227×0.7×0.7×2.1m3 = 3.234 m3 Diameter of the tap = 3.5 cm

Radius=3.52 = 1.75 cm

Rate of flow of water in the pipe = 2 m/s

Volume of water flow in 1 second = πr2 h =

227×1.75×1.75×200cm3

=227×175100×175100×200cm3

=227×74×74×200cm3=1925cm3

Time taken to fill the tank

=3.234×100×100×1001925sec

=3.234×100×100×1001000××1925sec.

= 1680 sec.

=168060=28 minutes
