Question

A defective briefcase costing Rs. 800 is being sold at a loss of 8%. If the price is further reduced by 5%, find its selling price.

Open in App
Solution

Given cost of briefcase = Rs 800
Loss incurred = 8%
Hence SP =
CP(100 – loss )/100
= 800 × (100 – 8)/100
= 8 × 92 = Rs 736
Again the price is further reduced by 5%
5% of Rs 736 =
(5/100) × Rs 736 =
Rs 36.80
Selling price =
Rs 736 – Rs 36.80
= Rs 699.20
SP=selling price
CP=current price
